new year goals

New year, new me, right? There have been so many posts on social media ringing in the New Year this way. Quite frankly, I am over the new me idea. I don’t want to become a new person, I just want to become a better version of myself. My goals for this year will do just that. They will make me a better version of myself than I had imagined.

The reason I’m obsessed with the new year is that it helps me asses my progress on where I’m at with certain goals. If I accomplished my all of my goals last year, then I set new ones for this year. Otherwise, I will keep dragging goals onto the following year, until they have been completed. So here’s the beginning of this new chapter and what I am hoping to accomplish this year.

1 | Be Consistent with Blogging.

If you have read any of my blog posts you know this has been such a hard one for me. I will make this a monthly goal and fail oh so miserably. However, the start of this year means that I can make this my number one priority for the whole year. This goal will not just be for two months out of the year, it will be for a whole year and I will hold myself accountable for every single post I post and do not post.

My goal overall is to get one post up every single week. That’s not impossible. We’re already off to a great start as this is the second post and we are on week two of this year. So keep your fingers crossed that it works out and if I start to slack feel free to message me on any of my social media accounts and let me know I need to get it together!

2 | Fix my posture.

I’m not even going to lie, this is probably the second biggest goal I have for my overall lifetime. I have the worst posture EVER. So my goal for this year is to actually work towards fixing my posture. The first step I am taking to do this is I will be making an appointment to see a chiropractor. Being 24 and having the amount of back pain that I do, is not the greatest. So I will take action this year and stop putting things off.

Which actually leads me to the next goal.

3 | Procrastinate less.

I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for YouTube videos, binge-watching shows on Netflix, and aimlessly scrolling through social media. So, this year my goal is to do less of that and more writing, reading and studying. I am excited to finally be graduating college this year (graduation date TBA). I want to spend my time doing more creative things, so I have also picked up bullet journaling as well.

Filling up my time doing things other than sitting in front of a computer (except for when I’m writing, obviously), will help my creativity strengthen. So it’s time to live more and procrastinate less.

2019 goals

4 | Read more.

2018 was not the year of reading for me. This year, it is my absolute goal to change that. I want to read twelve books this year, one for every month and hopefully I can include them in a cute little dainty book club or something of that sorts.

Stay tuned for my reading list for 2019 and if you have any suggestions please send them to me via social media or write them in the comments below!

5 | Start my freelance writing & editing business.

Lastly, this is one of my big things to do this year. I want to launch my freelance writing and editing business so that I can finally do what I was put on this earth to do. Although I’m not much of a talker, I can sit and write about absolutely anything and never want it to end.

This will most likely be a mid-year to end-of-year project as I want the site to be completely a reflection of me once it’s up.

So far that’s all I have for this year’s goals. Monthly goals will consist of steps to achieve the goals that I have laid out here. If you would like to see how everything goes, stay tuned for updates every month.

In the meantime, what are you hoping to achieve this year?
